Welcome to the BONUS edition of the Rogers Report, friends. Let’s get started with the athletes, actors, and other famous people I saw during the American Century Championship a few weeks ago.
What comes first? The competitors of the American Century Championship are not only skilled in their respective fields, but they are also competent golfers. Take a look at these swings.
Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are superb golfers, as we all know. I must admit that Nick Jonas’ action surprised me the most. Look at that quick swing! He might have been exercising according to Bryson DeChambeau’s regimen in between tours. Who is to decide? Josh Allen is the next player, completely stripping the ball at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
Steph Curry is one of my favourite attendees at this event. He’s a fantastic golfer, but he also has a lot of enthusiasm on the course. He was playing Olivia Rodrigo music last year while taking shots. He had a wonderful celebration this year for a long drive.
I’m into it, but I’m not sure what we’d call that celebration. After Curry made the shot, my coworker Darren caught up with him to talk about how he got into the game and other topics. Look it over:
Because I grew up listening to Justin Timberlake’s music, writing about him usually makes me feel nostalgic (read: my favourite song during my senior year of high school was Mirrors). I’ve been working in golf for four years now, and I don’t believe I’ll ever get over how awesome it is to see non-golf superstars simply hang out on the course while a game is in progress. They truly are “exactly like us!” moments, with the exception that they are world-renowned celebrities.
I’ll be completely open and honest with you all. I haven’t seen the most recent Top Gun film. But I have seen the original, and I like Miles Teller. Maybe this week I’ll see it! All of this is to say, though, that despite not having seen the film, I was still a little star-struck when watching Miles Teller, a.k.a. Rooster, tee it up in Tahoe.
Teller was obviously nervous to tee it up, just as I was to introduce myself to him. On the 17th hole, he requested a second chance and was undoubtedly a little more at ease.
In my case
Since the American Century Championship is so unlike any other event I go to all year, I always look forward to it. Seeing the pros at Tour events and majors is great, but this is a different kind of exciting. In one of my favourite locations, I get to watch some of the top athletes and performers in the world up close. Here are some of the week’s most “pinch me” moments for me.
